I don't know what the previous person that wrote a review is talking about. I have met the new owner and he is doing a great job! I just ate there yesterday and Al is still there. I see Al working there all of the time and often shake his hand at the window while he is preparing food. I have known him over 20 years. I think that things have only improved since the new ownership. The prices are still very reasonable even since the increase in prices customers can still get great food for less than any fast food restaurant and the food is better than any fast food restaurant. I never leave Al & Irene's hungry or unsatisfied!
never go back since al doesnt work there the food is terrible and the service is pitaful. the new owner doesnt know how to make the food the way it was .i will never be back and i will tell my friends not to go back. prices is to high. and the sauce does not taste like al used to make. to me the place will never be the same since al is no longer there. never be back
Great local bbq. Can't say a bad thing about them. I always have a fun time when we go in because the staff is so friendly (some people say they are sassy... they've only been wonderfully kind to me).
First time of eating there was just on Wednesday...it was absolutely the best service a person could ask for! The food was GREAT and we left there happy and full!! GOOD FOOD and GREAT SERVICE!!
Al & Irene's is the real deal, an authentic BBQ place -- not some fake, plastic, overly marketed, money machine. Moreover, it is the best BBQ in the area. The service is good & can be fun if not too busy -- which happens often weekdays around noon. Go early or late to avoid the rush; & go often to this Cedar Rapids original.
