What a disappointment! Al & Irene's BBQ is the best in CR. Can't beat pouring their bbq sauce on the made from scratch fries!!!! My family has eaten at BBQ This and walked away with $40 less money and hungry. We are avid BBQ lovers but could not eat their food. In fact, we left there and went and spent more $ eating somewhere else. We love you AL *& Irenes!

With all due respect, BBQ This! is a terrible first choice for #1 barbecue restaurant.
1) The meat is NOT barbecued in any way. I
2) The only BBQ taste comes from cold - room temperature sauces, that make the meat (when hot) colder and very unappetizing.
When I think of good BBQ places, I think of "Famous Daves" or the restaurants that take part in Cedar Rapids BBQ festival.
BBQ This! does not even come close. And I would venture to say that those who think this restaurant is the "Best BBQ" have not had the experience of the BBQ restaurants of the type mentioned above.

If you are looking for an average place to eat you came to the right place. The food is just adequate and the service is below average. No smiling seems to be the norm in the business here. The way Customer Service is today where people would like to hear a hello and a thank you, that doesn't seem to matter with BBQ This. Just getting by with average service seems to be alright with the management. I've been there twice and both times I was extremely disappointed with the service. I think the reason that this place is somewhat successful is that there are not enough places that can put great BBQ on the table. So the average person has to suffer with the Cedar Rapids having to few of choices and eating what's left. In this case it's BBQ This.

Funny that so many think BBQ This! is a chain. I did too. I'd say they look like a chain. Ah La Chipotle, Panchero's, Which Wich or Jimmy Johns feel to the atmosphere. But there is only one. I think they are prime for a franchise as good as they are. I do put Al & Irene's right up there with them, however!

For those of you who commented on BBQ This!and talked about Al & Irenes,the comment about Al & Irenes being the local best and not a chain, for your information BBQ This! is the only one as well, not a chain, and they are obviously the local best because they came out with #1 and as a supporter of BBQ This! I dont think that it makes Al & Irenes look any better by bad mouthing BBQ This!!!!!!! Maybe the writer of the Land J BBQ should spell a little better too and where is this Land J BBQ located anyways. And I'm pretty sure workers and owners of BBQ This! don't appreciate those negative comments!!!

BBQ THis is pretty good, but if you haven't eaten at Al & Irene's...it's a local best. Not a chain. They have the best beef ribs, chicken, beans, and side dishes in town. They should've gotten No. 1~!

I think bbq this is okay but they somoke ther meat but Land J bbq cook theres on a open fire and get a wood chip or smoked taste way better but good job bbq this keep up the godod work ~!!!

BBQ! This is absolutely awesome! GREAT food, great service, and great prices. The family meal deals are fast and easy to take home on a busy week night. Wish there was one on the NW side!

BBQ!!! I can't say enough about this place, the BBQ is AWESOME, the sides are tasty, and we have not tasted anything as good as this since we moved from the South(Ga.). These brothers know how to put in down. The service is also GREAT! As we say in the south, "They put their foot off in it", keep doing what you doing.

Awesome BBQ and the best sides around. I live in North Liberty and I can't get anything that taste close to BBQ This. Wonderful staff and excellent atmosphere (love the flat screens). I was even able to speak to the Manager Clarke who gave me advise on cooking my own BBQ (never talked to friendlier people).
Thanks for the best BBQ around and please come set up shop down in Iowa City.

BBQ this just did not have the smokey flavor..the intenseness..that others have.
It is a nice,clean BBQ place.But average for a BBQ place with the prices to boot.

I have heard of Al & Irenes since I moved here 6yrs ago.I could not get a spot to park every time I tried to go there and I thought that was a good indication of a good place to eat.It seems it is just a convient place for some.
My friend who kept lauding the praises of this BBQ place took me there one Saturday or Sunday about 6pm.
The pork sandwich was pretty good..but the waitress brought me a glass of tea and had stuck her finger in it!I ordered a beer and asked her to leave the top on so I could have a drink without a digit inserted.I know it sounds trivial..but it is something i just can't stand.

The pulled pork is melt-in-your-mouth goodness and the serving size is nothing to complain about for sure. We never have to keep after our almost 2 yr old and 3 1/2 yr old to finish their food when we eat here. They love the mac-n-cheese and apple crisp (as do we!). I also love their coleslaw.

We brought in 30 people unannounced on a Saturday and they never skipped a beat, again unbelievable main and side dishes. HIGHLY recommend to all.
