Very good food, local ingredients, part of the 'slow food' movement (as opposed to 'fast food'). My wife and I love the atmosphere--not overly formal, but still a place where you can dress your best. I like Linn Stree Cafe too, right next door, but where Linn St. is a bit formal and maybe a bit daunting at times if you're not feeling up to the formality, Devotay is more comfortable (Linn St, I do like you guys too, though). Oh, and Chef Kurt--if I'm supposedly an owner, as 'Ogo' says, I want my share of the profits! lol
I just ate at Devotay for the first time in March and it was excellent! I am a huge fan of tapas and they had a good selection of plates and I wanted to try them all. The person I was with ordered lamb chops and they were amazing. I am not one to order that type of entree but I am tempted to go back just to have it all to myself!
It's a touch of class! The atmosphere is quaint and elegant, the food presentation is as aesthetically appealing as it is delicious! It's always a romantic getaway when we dine at Devotay!
Devotay is the best restaurant in Iowa City and NO, I don't work for them! We've been going there for 3 years and we never tire of it. The staff is awesome, the food is always excellent, great wine list, and we love the atmosphere. It's small and has a European feel to it, it's very cozy. I highly recommend this place, both the tapas or the entrees are fresh, well prepared and very good...
My husband and I finally had a chance to try out Devotay in January. We loved it! It is a bit small, to the point where the woman next to me had to get up and move when we were trying to leave b/c I was trapped in the corner b/w our table, the walls and her chair. Other than that, it was quite lovely. The food was wonderful and our waiter was awesome!
My husband and I go here so much for our "hot dates" that we have a table we consider "ours." The food is always excellent and exciting. Their wine selection is choice. The use of local and organic ingredients is so important, and Devotay is committed to this. Wonderful!
