Our menu is loaded with great food suggestions like our fresh ground hamburgers, hand breaded tenderloins, sweet potato pancakes, garden omelet or our pie shakes. We will be glad to mix them the way you want them, from a double bacon cheeseburger with pepper cheese to a mozzarella, black olive and ham omelet. So order straight off the menu or create your own "Burg Inn" taste experience.
Even though I live out of town, I make sure to always go to Hamburg Inn when I come home to visit! It's so delicious and such a great part of Iowa City!
I love the Hamburg Inn mainly for the eclectic nature of the restaurant--the waiters are funky, "hippie" like with tattoos, dread locks, tye-dyed shirts, and crazy boots. They're friendly, down to earth. Plus, Hamburg crowds are suave in the political scene, as you can see Bill Clinton in the picture above.
Well The Burg is a nifty spot on the road. Breakfast is my favorite meal, in fact, I have designed my own omelet and the staff knows it - so it is my kind of place. A traditional place that is not afraid to change - the customers are faithful, verbal, and eclectic.
It is an experience of all your senses...
Not only is it a walk back in time, it is the political hotspot. The food is great from breakfast to supper. A true dining experience for all.
This should probably get listed in the Breaskfast section too. It's the best around. Get yourselves some pancakes and hashbrowns. Expect a wait on Sunday mornings through the afternoon. This is the place to eat in Iowa City after a Hawkeye football game the night before. Worth the wait. All my friends have to eat here when they visit.
