Hamburger Mary's franchises are "open-air bar and grilles for open-minded people," where guests enjoy a flamboyant dining experience. Everyone is welcome at Hamburger Mary's, but our concept is unique in that we are the ONLY national franchise actively marketing to the gay community.

WOW.......Just read Olivia's comments. My husband and I and another couple were sitting next to Olivia and her group. Here is what I saw and HEARD......Yes it did take a long time to get our orders. Yes they were PACKED with customers. Hmmm......Grand Opening...Busy with ppl, might take a while. (And it did) Once she got her order she was like a spoiled little child. There was NOTHING management could have done to please this woman/girl. She was out to make a seen. And did! she was rude, made our table uncomfortable and others. We heard her say someone had taken a bite out of her burger.....Olivia now that your no longer ordering a happy meal, "REAL" burgers as at Hambuger Mary's......They are thick sometimes miss shaped and WONDERFUL! We had a Great meal, our server was awsome. As adults we knew we were going to a "Grand Opening" and had a Very Nice Evening. We will be going often!
That's too bad that Olivia had a bad experience on opening night...but give 'em a break. This restaurant is what this city has needed for too long. Again, it was opening night, don't base everything on that and it sounds like management did the best they could to accomodate the group. I have been there twice and plan to go tomorrow and I have had the best service and great food. It's a good time!
I love this restaurant! It has a wonderful, laid-back, relaxing atmosphere and you get a great meal. Plus, you don't have to worry about the closed-mindedness that I've experience at other area restaurants. I wish the owners and staff the best of luck!
Hamburger Mary's is a wonderful place to eat and just hang out. The staff and owners are pleasant and attentive. They are extremely family and kid friendly.
In response to Olivia's negative experience...Every new establishment has bugs to work out but I was in Mary's the same night you were and I believe you grossly exagerated your experience.
I love the place and love the food. Great job and kudos to Hamburger Mary's staff and owners.
In response to olivia28, I'd like to clarify a few mis representations in her comments. This group came on the grand opening evening, which was incredibly busy. There were no tables available when this party came in, but one was brought out from the back room along with the number of chairs to accomodate their party. There was a long wait for food, however communication was made with everyone regarding the delay on keeping up with the orders. After their first concern was expressed a round of drinks was supplied free of charge for their inconvenience. After the food was delivered, one customer had an allergy to onions and her burger was replaced with a brand new burger. We would never take a chance with an allergy issue or re-serve the same thing that was made incorrectly. The customer complained that their was a bite taken out of it, which I know for a fact didn't happen as I waited while the new burger was prepared, taking the next burger to get food to this customer quickly. When asked what we could do for them, they stated they shouldn't have to pay for their meal. The entire table received their meal on the house to compensate for their dis-pleasure with their wait time and meals that evening. As a new restaurant there are many kinks to work out and I attempted to explain that to the table in asking for patience in being so busy, however, nothing I would have said would have made them happy. We have been open a month now and have received many compliments on the quality of food and are better prepared for busy evenings. I would encourage you to try us out and make up your own mind on the service and quality of food.
Hamburger Mary's
Just went to Mary's for lunch and had a delightful dining experience! The food was great...and the atmosphere fun and friendly. Can't wait to take my family and friends to experience Hamburger Mary's.
The Best Burgers I have ever had! We have eaten there multiple times now, trying different foods and bringing our friends and family to eat there. What keeps bring us back is the wonderful unique atmosphere, the great food, and very fun and friendly owners.
A group of us went to "Mary's" last weekend. Hands down, Worst service that I have ever received. Actually I should clarify my comment, our server did a nice job, worst managing of a public facility that I have ever witnessed. Complete Chaos from the minute that I walked in the door. We got a round of drinks and placed our order, and hour later we asked a member of management how much longer our food would be since we had over heard someone say that the kitchen was backed up 30 minutes. She really didn't have an answer but was very quick to ask if we wanted to cancel our order. Well, let me think about that. I placed an order and waited 60 minutes for it, yeah I was still planning on receiving it. I asked if she could find out how much longer it would be before I was going to answer that question. Obviously it was ready because she came back with our food. Minor problem....one burger was cold, one was made incorrectly and one meal was forgotten. We dealt with the semi-cool burger, the missing meal surfaced and the incorrect burger was sent back. When management returned with the "new" burger only about 2 or 3 minutes later, it had a bite out of it. Management begs to differ which maybe it was not a bite, but then it must have fallen off when they scrapped the onions off the burger that were never supposed to be there in the first place. So clearly our request for a "new" burger was not honored. I brought all this to managements attention and the response was, " Well I am sorry that you chose to come here tonight." Excuse me? You are sorry that I chose to come here, well that makes two of us. I guess I am not clear on how businesses work. I thought that the goal was to bring in business not drive it away. Anyway, my best suggestion after my worst dining out experience and the most unfriendly customer service given by a member of management is , if you want trash and not class - head to "Mary's."
Outstanding food (that burger was huge!) and a fun atmosphere. This place will definately be on my list of favorite places to go on a regular basis.

I think this is just what Cedar Rapids and Iowa needs. It's time to open our minds and hearts and accept people for who they are. I wish this couple the best of luck in the restaurant business. If you want class, this place and the two owners have it. Take it to the top GIRLS!
