Add one more laid-back spot to downtown Iowa City, some music and a place to have a cup of joe. But this time, don't forget the bubble tea. House of Aromas, a Coralville-based coffee house, is opening a new location next month at 118 S. Clinton St., the former home of Enzler's Inc. for 35 years. The travel and luggage store closed its doors earlier this year. "We always wanted to be downtown," said co-owner Chris Nguyen, 21, a University of Iowa junior. This will be Aromas' third location in about 1 1/2 years. Nguyen, another UI student and a UI graduate opened their first shop at 119 Second St. in Coralville and added a second at 2180 Norcor Ave. in Coralville a few months ago. The new House of Aromas location will feature soups and sandwiches, smoothies, noodles and its unique bubble tea, which includes tapioca pearls. While the owners thought about packing the 2,700-square-foot-location with as many chairs and tables as possible to accommodate more customers, Nguyen said they settled on providing the same relaxed atmosphere as its other shops. Welcoming environment, not dark and dingy like other coffee shops in IC. Great customer service, with unique and personable baristas. All of their coffee is organic/ fair-trade, even espresso, and they use real fruit in their smoothies, what else could you want?

Excellent coffee and smoothies! Greatly missing the Norcor location though. We just don't seem to get to the others as often.

House of Aromas offers amazing coffee, many different types of loose leaf tea, smoothies, and bubble tea (also known as milky tea with tapioca pearls). The atmosphere is colorful and relaxed (they have a few couches along with normal tables), and the people are always friendly.
