House of AromasListed In: Coffee Shop
Add one more laid-back spot to downtown Iowa City, some music and a place to have a cup of joe. But this time, don't forget the bubble tea. House of Aromas, a Coralville-based coffee house, is opening a new location next month at 118 S. Clinton St., the former home of Enzler's Inc. for 35 years. The travel and luggage store closed its doors earlier this year. "We always wanted to be downtown," said co-owner Chris Nguyen, 21, a University of Iowa junior. This will be Aromas' third location in about 1 1/2 years. Nguyen, another UI student and a UI graduate opened their first shop at 119 Second St. in Coralville and added a second at 2180 Norcor Ave. in Coralville a few months ago. The new House of Aromas location will feature soups and sandwiches, smoothies, noodles and its unique bubble tea, which includes tapioca pearls. While the owners thought about packing the 2,700-square-foot-location with as many chairs and tables as possible to accommodate more customers, Nguyen said they settled on providing the same relaxed atmosphere as its other shops. That means music, couches and chairs as well as their signature customer service trait: taking orders directly to customers.
