At the turn of the century, a flour mill operated on the site that is now occupied by the Iowa River Power Restaurant. Construction on the present structure was completed in 1902 to house a power generating station that operated until 1964. It was sold to the City of Coralville for $1.00 and they in turn sold it to others who used it for storage until 1976. Conversion of the structure into a restaurant began in February of 1977. The Iowa River Power Restaurant officially opened Monday, October 24, 1977. The rest, as they say, is history.
Watching the eagles, seeing the water flowing over the dam, and enjoying a great meal is my way of enjoying life. It is always a memorable experience. The service is always great and the atmosphere is outstanding. The steaks and the rest of the food on menu are the best you can find in the area. Keep up the good work and you will be the "BEST OF THE BEST"
This is my favorite Restaurant. I eat here every chance I get. The food is the best in Iowa and the service cannot be beat. The staff is the best in town.
This is my favorite restaurant in Eastern Iowa. The food is superb, the service is alway the best, the price is extremely reasonable. I love eating here for lunch, dinner and brunch. The ambiance is so relaxing while enjoying a wonderful meal. I don't quite know why it isn't under the best STEAKHOUSE category as well. Anyone dining here will have a great experience. Great job!
We had a wonderful Sunday Brunch there a few weeks ago. It has to be the best ever! For the meer price you pay, you couldn't buy any of the items in the store, prep it and make it taste like the do. Hat's off to the chef. Anyone going there would enjoy the delight of the ambiance along with the great food.
Great environment-overlooking the rushing white water overflowing the dam, is the best waterfront resturant around, and the food is good too, the service is wonderful, and reasonable.
The view is tremendous. Water flowing down stream, wild life surrounding the river. The best Prime Rib around. Romantic and comfortable with an outstanding menu detailed by superb service. It's a must try establishment.
I concur with many of the other contributors: the view is the highlight. The rule applies that the quality of the food is inversely proportional to the quality of the view. Some staff members are arrogant, others are simply under skilled or under trained. More economical to bring something from the CoOP and eat it on the footbridge now spanning the river adjacent to the restaurant. Better view, better food.
They have a good view outside of the restaurant, inside is a different story. Decent brunch, overpriced however, complimented with an arrogant waitstaff.
Whatever the occasion calls for, our elegant meeting and function rooms offer an ideal setting to entertain family and friends, staff, and business associates . We can accommodate parties from 12 to 250 guests. Our staff... Brown Deer Golf Club
