We are pleased to announce the opening of Lincoln wine Bar, the newest in our vast and powerful empire. It is located at 125 First St, down the street from the cafe (in the space formerly occupied by divine wines). The new and improved bar will offer a small but lovingly-crafted list of wines and beers we love, as well as a small but lovingly- crafted array of bar snacks. All will be moderately priced, because, let's face it, we're in it for the love. We're hoping our latest venture will be the perfect place for your book club meeting, your knitter's right rager, your internet date will dinner at the cafe, and there is a wait, glass at the bar will be the ideal prelude, also, if you buy a bottle (or three) at the bar for consumption in the restaurant, we'll happily waive our normal corkage fee.
The Lincoln Cafe is a great little place in the center of Mount Vernon. My husband and I enjoy going there for an evening out or we can choose to go there with our daughter for a family meal or Sunday Brunch.
I truly believe that there is no place in the area that has both the atmosphere and the food.
Come visit Mt. Vernon & eat at the best restaurant around. Enjoy the atmosphere & great food. Don't forget to visit the Lincoln Wine Bar to pick up a bottle to take with you to the restaurant. Plan to spend some time shopping in our GREAT town.
And the artwork (up till the end of this month) by local artist Susan Hargus is nothing short of stunning. She manages to capture something startlingly honest about her subjects--not just the details of flesh and bone but some aspect reflective of the heart, temperament and spirit of that subject. Magnificent! Haunting.
I've had friends come in from all over the world who have said that it is the best meal they've ever had--yes, it's that special! I am consistently astounded and surprised. It's food that you must pay attention to!
This guy is argueably the best chef in the region. How he can continually put together culinary masterpieces is beyond me. He must keep great notes. Another great thing about this place is they have an extremely low corkage fee and you can afford to bring that one bottle you've been saving for just the right experience Special place.
I love that the Lincoln uses locally-produced foods to the extent possible, AND that they have "basic fare" as well as vegetarian options, but the specialty dinners are above and beyond anything in the area. It's great that something historic and quaint is thriving; it's a model for "right" foods to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and budgets.
The Lincoln Cafe is probably one of the best places to dine in the area. I really like the way traditional food is spiced up with unusual or hard to find spices and combinations of tastes. There's a "fusion" kind of feel to what's served. The desserts are quite tasty also. Come during off-peak hours and enjoy an absolutely wonderful meal.
My local favorite! I recommend it to so many people every day. You've got to try to spicy grilled chicken sandwich. They are always willing to put it on greens for me to save a few calories. Simply delicious. The art work of Susan Hargus' that has been on display recently is a MUST SEE!!! I always love to see what is new and different in the art work.
I'll return again and again and again and again...(just wish my mom could come with me once more)
Why isn't this under the "New American" category? Fabulous food, innovative dishes that rotate every week, using local ingredients whenever available. Always hospitable.
King-Solomon, I think you should have sent it back and had it cooked to your liking. That is a pretty big "personal preference", much like your budget. Plus, sometimes you have to pay more than $3.99 for a burger or a "special" at a nice restaurant. I've never had an ill prepared meal there. You should try it again and order what you WANT next time!! Cheers.
What I love about the Lincoln Cafe is that you can go all out and order the dinner special, or you can go in for an excellent burger--the food is great all the way around.
You can't beat their excellent service and
perfect food! The atmosphere is charming
and cozy as well as very clean which we always
look for when eating out.
Good food, yes, but the prices on the menu vary from that of a $6 burger to a $40 entree. That can be a little awkward when on a date! Go with friends and eat off each others plates! The wine bar is fabulous.
Unfortunately, I had a much different experience at Lincoln Cafe. My wife and I decided to go there to try out what we had heard was this wonderful little restaurant with great food. We went to the Wine Bar first to have a couple glasses of wine before dinner.
When we went to the restaurant, we were seated promptly and our drink orders taken. Everything was looking good. We looked over the menu, and I had heard that their burgers were great, but I wanted to try something different, so I decided to order one of their specials. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, some kind of a steak I believe. I do remember it being awfully expensive, but what the heck, it's not often that my wife and I get to go out on a date with two kids at home.
What I got, after a really long wait, was not what I expected at all. It was really small, very undercooked (i.e. still pretty bloody, which I'm sure agrees with some people, but not with me), and not commensurate with the description or the price they charged.
I do still want to go back, just to try one of their "great" burgers. And because those are under $10, I won't feel as bad if it's not good. I won't order one of the specials again though.
