Although I am from Marengo (and admittedly biased as a regualar PHAT Daddy's customer), I have had the opportunity to dine at various establishments and sample a number of different cuisines and have found PHAT Daddy's to be at the least on par with any restuarant that eaten at, and better than most. The menu has recently changed for the better, the prices -- especially for a fine dining establishment -- are very reasonable (I would challenge anyone to find a better Surf & Turf for the same price). The current PHAT Daddy's staff is an amicable group of people -- they are a bonus to the great food and contribute to the fun atmosphere.
To the poster who had a bad experience -- while your experience sounds unfortunate, and it is apparent that it was obviously uncalled for -- I would urge you to not let that one instance permanently sour you on this fine establishment. Give it another try, you will be plesantly suprised to find new leadership in the kitchen area (as well as a friendly staff throughout the restaurant) to go along with the new and improved menu selection. As for anyone who has not yet been to PHAT Daddy's, come to Marengo and let the PHAT crew show you that this one unfortunate instance was the exception rather than the rule! Hope to see you there!
Great Food and great atmosphere, where else can you go in a small community and get this variety in food, rather than the burger with cheese.They offer great specials that switch your options up a give that spice of life. Oh by the way to the person that made the first comment I'm sorry to hear about your bad experiance and would encourage you to tell the owner and see what his comment would be, I would also ask you to check if that chef is still employed and if so then boycott but if not do not hold a grudge forever. Best food in the area! Well worth the drive to scenic Marengo, Iowa. Will not find a better establishment, or better prices, in the big cities. Period.
