In advertising, the new owners of Papa Juans are encouraging people to Come Back to Papa Juans Again for the First Time! Since purchasing the 34-year-old restaurant last October, owners Steve and Cherryl Van Fleet, Rick and Angelica Riha have put their focus on improving service and food quality. They’re anxious to show off what they’ve accomplished. They’ve also made changes to the menu, namely adding an Italian Menu called Stefano’s Cuccina, which is Italian for “Steve’s Kitchen.” Steve is responsible for preparing all of the Italian dishes. His signature dish is Chicken Cordon Rouge, which is crab stuffed chicken breast covered in a sherry cream crab sauce. Steve says they also are trying to bring families back to the restaurant by creating a “family focused” atmosphere. “We’ve improved the service, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant has improved, and we’ve upgraded the food.” Now on the menu, a reasonably priced Steak and Lobster Combination. Proving popular is the Saturday Night Prime Rib Special, which is a 12-ounce cut of prime rib, vegetable, garlic mashed potatoes, salad, and garlic bread. Steve, who also works for a food distribution company, says he was attracted to buying Papa Juans because of its longevity. “If you look around in Cedar Rapids, you probably can’t name five restaurants that have been here 20 years, I wanted something with history. He credits the restaurant’s margarita for that longevity. “It has a 37-year-old guarded secret formula,” Steve says. Since taking over ownership in October 2004, Steve says we've received a lot of positive comments. “The patrons like that we've added the Italian Menu for the variety, and that the quality of all of the food has greatly improved, as well as, the service.” Login or Sign-Up to review this business
