SPT Theatre Company is the brainchild of four area performers, Doug Elliott, Jane Pini, Gerard Estella, and Janelle Lauer. They formed the company initially because they loved making music and theatre, and they loved doing it together. But then they changed their selfish ways, wrote an it-takes-a-village, heartfelt kind of mission statement, and set out to make it happen. The mission of SPT Theatre Company is to create an organization that supports, provides for, and expands the artistic opportunities available to performers and arts patrons in the greater Cedar Rapids/Iowa City community. In furthering this mission, SPT strives to coordinate with existing organizations and resources or to create new opportunities and access to new resources when appropriate. SPT most recently closed out another successful run of "A Modern Salon at Brucemore" with special guest, Megan Turner Ginsberg. They also launched their first CD, "five winters at the big house" at Salon, a compliation of some of their favorite musical moments over the last five years. Their next project is producing "DivaPalooza 2" at Theatre Cedar Rapids, featuring Jane, Janelle and Lynne Rothrock. It's hard to be a Diva, baby! April 18 - 20, they'll present another original production at Riverside Theatre in Iowa City.
