For those who think that they have had a great espresso drink at there favorite coffee shop and think its the best then you should try the Terrapin. I promise that novice and experienced coffee drinkers will change their opinion on where the best espresso is and that by far is the TERRAPIN! Once you have had the Terrapin's espresso you will have a hard time enjoying any other espresso out there. I put the challenge to all of you out there. Try it and you won't regret it because you will come back again and again!
I have tried most of the coffee shops in Iowa City/Coralville over the years, and I have become very comfortable at Terrapin. Unlike other local coffee shops, I feel *welcome* there. There is no sign, for example, telling me that I should leave after 20 minutes, as I have seen elsewhere. What others have been saying is true--the customer is top priority, and once you come back a few times, they will know exactly what you want. Comfortable atmosphere, and I haven't even talked about the drinks, which are excellent. Others just don't compare.
Robert & David (the owners) truely have a passion for running a coffee house the right way! They know you by name and know exactly what you drink. They can create some great drinks that are not listed on their menu also. They make it an enjoyable experience every time I walk in. They have been in business for 8 years and with the competition out there that shows that their products and service are top notch!
Robert and Dave really know their customers. A really friendly atmosphere is great when you just want to sit and relax. Also a good place to have informal meetings.
Terrapin is a great and unique shop. I am a regular during my work week. They always remember my name and my drinks. Great music, great view, great owners, and great espresso!
Terrapin makes the best coffee drinks around. And, even more impressive, you get personalized service from people who take great pride in both their coffee and their relationships with their customers. THey know your names, where you are from, what kind of drink you like (they will make whatever you want for you)---it's a place you just feel really good to be in. If I go there in a bad mood, I always feel better after a few minutes--it's a happy place.
Friendly, personalized service every time. The brothers take care to get to know you and your drinks. Every time I go to Terrapin, I feel like I'm arriving at a friend's house to hang out, read, and have some good drinks.

I have been to countless coffee shops and coffee bars across the midwest and nothing comes close to the high quality of espresso and service that you receive at the Terrapin! I have not found espresso that tastes even close to this. I will travel 30 minutes anytime to get this top notch product! This is the best kept secret for coffee and espresso in IOWA! If you have not tried the TERRAPIN you need to. When you do, you won't go anywhere else!

The atmosphere is really comfortable, and the brother owners are extremely knowledgeable about their craft. The hospitality is nigh unparalleled, and the music playing in the background is a refined and soothing conduit for relaxing with your favorite of many original concoctions, or caffeinated espresso cocktails.
Robert makes it a point to know his customer base, and will always take the time to chat. He and brother David are very personable and client oriented. This isn't always the case with the chains. Great service, friendly staff, and great coffee. Heck, even the other patrons are friendly!

I have been a loyal Terrapin customer for years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. They have the best service and will always make you feel right at home. And, of course, it is the best coffee around!
Seriously good coffee and other drinks, very good service and extremely comfortable ambiance. Honestly, while other places have some college students who basically know how to make an espresso, these guys actually specialize in it--and are very good at what they do. Stop by and try it, you won't be disappointed.
Always willing to serve until you are satisfied. They really enjoy making your drink as custom as possible. Nice place to read. Super friendly. A home-away-from-home!
