The Crowded Closet is a Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) thrift shop located at 1213 Gilbert Court in Iowa City, Iowa. All proceeds go to support MCC. The Crowded Closet expresses Christian faith in action by offering a friendly, caring presence in the community, providing opportunities for volunteers to give of their time and talents, and receiving and reselling donated items. The Crowded Closet offers gently used clothing for the entire family, housewares, furniture, books, records, fabric, much miscellaneous, and many one of a kind items at reasonable prices. The specialty section includes many unusual, antique, and collectible items.

Don't forget their fair trade section, where you can buy amazing objects of art and musical instruments from around the world, made by real people who have been paid fairly for their work and goods. I love to wander that part of the store, planning where my next available bit of money will go :)

Can not tell you how awesome this place is! I live nearby and am there AT LEAST once a week if not more. You never know what you'll find and the prices are GREAT!

The Crowded Closet has awesome deals daily. Usually half offs and other bargains as well. Great place for, especially college students or someone who just needs the extra cake pan or place setting on a whim. I never come out of that store with out a new purchase.

I feel like this is the ultimate in recycling.
I buy items there and the cost is the best 2nd hand store I have seen yet. Plus you can feel good about your donations... Often I will buy and item and after using it for a while if it is still in good shape I will donate it back.
The most diverse selection as well as having antiques they also have self help items.
