If you are looking for good chow, then I suggest you land your stomach at "The Flying Wienie." The hanger is an old garage converted into a restaurant shop - a little red building topped off with an airplane on top of the roof. Very cool! The menu is as unique as the decor. The homemade fries are so delicious! My favorite is the 8" to 10" Italian Sausage link sandwich. It's long and spicy served Chicago Style (topped with ketchup, mustard, onions, sweet relish, dill spears, tomatoes, peppers, etc). The Italian Beef is another tasty choice. You get lots of food for the price. They do offer some BBQ items, but they use liquid smoke. If "The Flying Wienie" purchased a wood smoker - it's possible they could offer really BBQ some day. I'm not a big Hot Dog fan, but from I hear from other people - it's pretty good. I suggest you book a flight to "The Flying Wienie." You'll like the ticket price, too!

This tiny bar/restaurant has big surprises on the menu. My favorite is "Smokehouse Nites." The BBQ is tasty considering this isn't a specialty BBQ joint. I love their onion rings, too. Looking for something different? Don't waste anymore time - try the Tic Toc!

This theatre is BIG. Lots of movies to choose from and very modern in both construction and technology. Best of all you can earn points every time you purchase a ticket or buy food and win free admission and/or concessions. It's a great deal! The only complaint I have about this theatre is the concession counter. You can walk in and see six staff members behind the counter talking with each other and only one or two doing the work while customers stand waiting for service. This is not good customer service. This needs fixed.

When this theatre first opened, I was skeptical that it would survive with all the competition. It's still here and for good reasons. The customer service is the best I've EVER experienced in a movie theatre. They treat you like you are more than just another ticket sold. This theatre works with independent films - host of the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival. Wise move! I really like how they cater to the public and you can go to their website and suggest movies you would like to see in the future. Best of all - this place had REAL BUTTER and you can put it on the popcorn yourself. YUM! The movies and food are less expensive than any other theatre in Cedar Rapids and the friendly staff and community involvement is priceless. You will love this theatre. Give it a try if you haven't already.

Pita's is a great place to eat in the downtown Cedar Rapids area. The customer service is extremely friendly and the food menu is quite welcoming. My favorite is the tenderloin. It's basically a tasty Frisbee on bun. YUM!

When you first enter Jimmy Jack's Rib Shack, the first thing you notice is the outstanding customer service. The staff will make you feel welcome from beginning to end and once you sink your teeth into the carefully prepared BBQ, you will not want the experience to end - period.

Quality Ribs are hard to keep consistent in any BBQ joint, but I have not had one disappointing rib experience here. Maybe I've just been lucky.

The meats are smoked correctly - meaning you can actually taste the smoke! It is absolutely delicious. The beef brisket and pulled pork are my favorites - a generous serving heaped on a bun. I usually choose their unique tasting fries along with beans and corn bread. The icing on the cake is the sauce on the BBQ. Wow! The Cowboy style is my favorite (smoky flavored).

Jimmy Jack's Rib Shack does it right and you'll leave feeling tight! It would be unfair to say this is the best BBQ joint in Iowa as I have many more to try, but I do recommend you try it for yourself. You'll also appreciate the rustic, cozy interior.

Though the walls are decked out with various old fashioned tools, you'll find nothing needs fixed at Jimmy Jack's.
