The Colony Inn offers the best value for breakfast in the Colonies, along with some of the best service.

Overflowing bowls of potatoes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and the best toast and homemade jam ever make you wish you could eat at the Colony Inn on a daily basis.

This establishment used to be my favorite place to dine when returning home to visit family. However, a negative experience cancelled that, and I haven't returned since.

When dining with my sister and her now-husband, I decided to treat them to dinner after winning a large amount of money from gambling. The inconsiderate hostess asked us if we wanted a "children's menu", due to the fact one of us looked young (but not 10). She never apologized for this, she only said that "she mislooked the first time".

Following the visit, I wrote a full length comment card. I never heard back from anyone at the restaurant (this incident was at the Interstate location).

The food is indeed tasty and some of the best around. However, horrible service makes one forget about it.

I now go to other establishments in the Amana Colonies to dine.

This establishment has some of the better Chinese food I've had, from the egg rolls and soup to the entrees. It also is one of the better values around, you get quite a bit of food in their $5 lunch special.

However, the service at this establishment is deplorable. Outside of one younger waiter, I've had nothing but attitude from an older woman (perhaps the owner) when dining there. She is inconsiderate and doesn't seem to appreciate anyone's business.
The decor seems to be lacking too; and there is no clear direction on where to go upon entering the restaurant., If you're going to order from this place--use take out.

I agree with bobbylee; I was stunned when I saw that Jimmy Johns' was voted the best. It is more than annoying you either have to pay for all the toppings--or have none. I'm not big on vegetables and its ridiculous you have to pay $1 to have a little Italian dressing spread on your sandwich.

The bread is mediocre and you don't seem to get very much value for your meal. One positive this place has is their chips. Custom made for the chain, they are rather tasty. That however, is not enough for me to visit their establishment on my own.

I'm stunned that this establishment was voted "best of the area" when there are so many authentic Mexican establishments around.
Carlos O'Kelly's is nothing but premade food that gets dropped into a vat of boiling water and is rushed on to a plate. The sauces lack any flavor whatsoever and the chips and salsa are nothing to be special to be sure.

The only positive this place has is they seem to hire decent employees; on the change occasion I visit one, the service has never been bad.

The best hot & sour soup I've had in the corridor.

Best family style breakfast I've had in some time.
