If you are looking for an average place to eat you came to the right place. The food is just adequate and the service is below average. No smiling seems to be the norm in the business here. The way Customer Service is today where people would like to hear a hello and a thank you, that doesn't seem to matter with BBQ This. Just getting by with average service seems to be alright with the management. I've been there twice and both times I was extremely disappointed with the service. I think the reason that this place is somewhat successful is that there are not enough places that can put great BBQ on the table. So the average person has to suffer with the Cedar Rapids having to few of choices and eating what's left. In this case it's BBQ This.
I am very disappointed that the Java House won this catagory. There coffee and espresso is alright but their service is not. Most of the time there is not a smile and it is NOT a welcoming place. I have been to 3 different Java House's and only the one down by the Sycamore Mall is friendly on a consistent basis. I also agree with Brotherbock's comment on I feel like a number and I always feel hurried out of there. That is not a good business and the Java House is one that is fortunate they have the locations that they do and started the business when they did. If this didn't start when they did they would not have ever made it in this business. The espresso is average at best but unfortunately most people haven't experienced a good espresso. If they had they would rarely frequent the Java House if at all.
I went to this place once and will never go back! The chef of the place was screaming at our waitress so loud it brought the place to a standstill. This happend on Vanlentines Day last year and my parents and date will not only never forget it but refuse to go back to a place with this classless attitude. I could care less if the food is any good or not when it comes to something like that. It was uncalled for and in horrible taste. You call yourself a high class unbelievable establishment but you are so wrong and not even close to what its like to dine at a top notch place. So for over a year I have told everybody what happend and they were not only shocked but also refuse to dine at your place. I think you should look at this as my gift to you becasue I am telling you about this. Most people won't say anything and just not come back. At least in this case you know why. Sorry you couldn't have been more professional.
For those who think that they have had a great espresso drink at there favorite coffee shop and think its the best then you should try the Terrapin. I promise that novice and experienced coffee drinkers will change their opinion on where the best espresso is and that by far is the TERRAPIN! Once you have had the Terrapin's espresso you will have a hard time enjoying any other espresso out there. I put the challenge to all of you out there. Try it and you won't regret it because you will come back again and again!
I had a terrible experience at Leonardo's! I called in advance to see if they were serving food and they said yes. I told them I was going to be their in 30 minutes and was there in 20 but the person in charge told me that the kitchen was closed. I told her that I had just called but to no satisfaction they told me that I would not be able to get any food. Needless to say after driving across town to get there, I was furious! I now am doing this place a favor by telling them that I will never come back after being a consistent customer for years. Most people that never come back never say why, they just leave. So now I now go to Xavier's all the time and found out that their menu is better and the food is unbelievable! So thanks for the BIG MISTAKE and steering me to a Diamond in the Rough. XAVIER'S!
Rubes Steak House is by far the "VERY BEST IN IOWA". The quality is top notch and the service is excellent! You pay what you get for here. I am still wishing the prices didn't jump up so high in the past few years, (which has kept me from coming down so often) but when I do make it down here it is always such a tremendous place to dine out! Keep up the great work just please watch your prices!
The customer service is still very good but the espresso has changed since the last owners sold the place. The taste of the espresso has went from pretty good to below average at best. I used to enjoy stopping in here but until the espresso quality is brought up to where it's enjoyable I won't be back. I guess I will depend on others to let me know when that happends or ever will. Please bring back the quality!
Robert & David (the owners) truely have a passion for running a coffee house the right way! They know you by name and know exactly what you drink. They can create some great drinks that are not listed on their menu also. They make it an enjoyable experience every time I walk in. They have been in business for 8 years and with the competition out there that shows that their products and service are top notch!
The Northland Fitness Club is hands down is the best value for your money! The owner Kurt strives to make this a place where everyone is welcome whether you are a novice when it comes to working out or if you are the best conditioned athlete. This place has the most comfortable of atmospheres I have ever been in! If you have been hesitant to trying out a fitness club then this is the place for you! The people like who work out here are friendly and are there to help when needed. I can't figure out why someone would go to one of the bigger clubs pay more money and stand and wait to get on a machine or free weights when you can always have one available like you have here. Kurt is striving to continue to add newer and better features in his establishment which in turn just makes this place one of the greatest deals in Eastern Iowa. If a person stops in once they will see the calm, pleasant, friendly atmosphere that IS NOT found in other clubs. You will find that Northland is not a "Meat Market" like other places to work out in town. So when you are ready to start working out for the first time or try a place to improve and maintain your fitness, give Northland Fitness a try. You will not regret it!
I usually am not negative when it comes to coffee shops but I have tried the espresso from here and I have to say out of all the coffee shops that I've been to this rates dead last in taste. Sorry to be blunt but I thought the first time was a mistake so I tried something another drink on another day and no question, it was the worst.
If you want the best espresso around come and see David and Robert at Terapin Coffee. They provide by far the best espresso imaginable! The cofortable atmosphere and service sets this coffee bar apart from any other place around. The brothers do it right here and take pride in all of the details that go into running a top notch coffee bar like this! If you frequent different places for coffee try this one because it will have you coming back again and again! Keep up the tremendous work boys!
