WCP is proud to have served the entire Cedar Valley and beyond for over 90 years. We were organized in 1916 by the Waterloo Drama League for the purpose of producing amateur theater. You don’t have to be a member to volunteer. Any person of any background can and has been a volunteer of our organization. Over 800 people volunteer each year for eleven productions. Approximately 30,000 patrons see our productions each year. Almost one-half million children have seen our shows since 1982. These successes might be attributed to the fact that we are something for everyone. WCP and BHCT is your neighbor.....we are your community.

Great productions at both the Waterloo Community Playhouse and Black Hawk Children's Theatre. The stages are filled with great talent in the area.

Best show at WCP, "Beauty and The Beast", the show leads, Belle, Beast and Lumiere were top notch Broadway type performers. Hope we can see them on stage again soon!!!

The Waterloo Community Playhouse and Black Hawk Children's Theatre is truly a gem in the Cedar Valley. It provides wonderful volunteer opportunities for youths and adults, on-stage and back- stage as well as providing excellent theatre to audience members. Working on shows at WCP/BHCT is like working with family....truly a labor of love, where people from all walks of life can work together as a team to bring high quality live theatre to their friends and neighbors. The Playhouse has truly shaped my adult life. Not only have I developed life time friendships with a number of people, but I met my husband of almost 25 years at WCP. We have been volunteering there for almost 30 years. The Cedar Valley is fortunate to have had the Waterloo Community Playhouse as a cultural mainstay for over 90 years!
